The Liars Club

Tucked away behind the bustling bars of Deansgate
in Manchester city centre is the underground Tiki dive bar known as The Liars Club. The entrance makes no secret of the tropical interior, and as you decend the stairs under hanging puffer fish and surrounded by garish macaw themed wallpaper, you enter a dark, colourful, underground paradise. There is a main bar with a vast array of rum bottles behind it, along with what looked like two smaller tiki bars, although they were not in use when we were there. Although small, the there was plenty of seating around the room, and the atmosphere was good. Lots of interesting decor and nice features meant that it is definitely somewhere different to go for a drink.

The menu consists of loads of different cocktails, ranging between £6 and £100 (a large, sharing cocktail served in a treasure chest). On weekdays there is a 2 for 1 deal on the cocktails before 9pm, which we found to be really good value, working out as only £3 or £4 for a cocktail. The extensive menu was a little overwhelming and made deciding very difficult (although at that price we didn't mind trying a few!) For some, an impressive fire display was involved in making the drink, which added to the experience. Overall, it was a great evening out, especially in a large group of people as you can all try each others. Great value if you go when the deals are on.
