Yesterday we visited the Honesty Shop, currently parked at Merton Abbey Mills, South West London. The concept is basically an unmanned shop whereby you put the money for your shopping in an envelope. Now, when I saw this from a distance I imagined a load of bric-a-brac style tat worth a few quid, a sort of eggs on the side of the road honesty box. However, the honesty shop is full of very high quality, tasteful items prices accordingly - not cheap but not unreasonable. Great gifts and items you would have to search a bit to find elsewhere. The shop is set in an old route-master bus which is a clever use of space. 10% of profits go to charity too. A nice concept even if it doesn't catch on (it is, after all, an unmanned open shop)!
