Ev, Isabella Street

Hidden under the railway arches, parallel to the Cut, and a stone's throw from Southwark Station runs Isabella Street. This charming little street, densely lined with potted plants, is made up of several cafes, bars and restaurants. One of which, Ev, is the cafe sibling of the popular Turkish Tas Restaurant around the corner. The huge space, with ample indoor and outdoor seating, operates a canteen style service with a salad bar to be proud of.

There's also soup, pastries and various other Turkish treats which make it the perfect place to grab lunch. Try the stuffed peppers from the salad bar, and the lentil soup. Lunch for two including drinks could easily come to less than £20, and on a week day lunchtime the place is packed with office workers. Alternatively, Ev is great for a coffee and a snack at the weekend, making a change from the chains on the Cut and the tourist magnets on the South Bank.
